Tissue Culture Lab
Our tissue culture laboratory employs highly experienced staff to ensure maximum productivity combined with strict sanitation and quality control. This ensures that our products are available in commercial quantities at competitive prices.
Nuclear material in the form of a few in-vitro plantlets of different varieties are imported every second year from breeders in the UK and Europe. Plantlets are kept in our quarantine laboratory (the first private quarantine laboratory for potato plants in South Africa) until tests for exotic diseases proofed negative. Plantlets are then released to our commercial tissue culture laboratory for multiplication. These in-vitro plantlets are cloned every four weeks and grown under strictly controlled conditions in growth chambers in the laboratory.
